NEBRASKA, it's probably the last place anyone would ever think about moving to...unless there was a reason behind it. Mine of course, happened to be a job.

I'm not going to lie, that it was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. It was literally the first time I lived on my own away from my parents, friends, and everything I had ever known. I had to figure out where to live, connect my utilities, buy groceries, and learn how to budget (while having student loans, a car payment, and credit card debt... yay!) It was hard! I cried nearly every night and just felt alone because well I didn't know anyone and with very little people who look like me (Latina/o) it make it feel even worse.

But, over time I made a decision to combat my loneliness by embracing my situation and start to explore the midwest. Stops included:

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium (Omaha, Neb.)

As you can tell, I had quite an adventure in the Midwest. I met a number of amazing people I still consider good friends and made so many memories that I hold so dear to me. I can't wait to visit and see those corn fields and Sandhill Cranes again, one day.
